Walking Holidays Vis Island, Croatia

Our guided walking holidays offer stunning scenery, delicious local food & wine, with all creature comforts, and some culture.

Widely regarded as the pearl of the Dalmatian coast Vis island is the most unspoilt of the Croatian islands – there are about 1,200 of them!

Situated halfway down the Dalmatian coast it is the farthest island from the Croatian mainland being about 70 minutes by catamaran from Split.

Vis was a Yugoslav military base until 1989. Consequently it was off limits to foreigners until then and it remains sparsely populated with no mass tourism.
First settled over 2,000 years ago the island is criss-crossed with ancient tracks which have recently been cleared, signed and mapped. So, yes, you could find your own way around. However, if so you are likely to miss out on the best routes, sites and stories which our two experienced guides will enthusiastically share with you.

Accommodation is in Tatjana’s very comfortable and stylish B&B.

It is a recent, high quality conversion and has 5 double rooms (all en-suite, plus one extra shower/WC).

Tatjana is a accomplished masseuse and runs yoga classes during the season. I can vouch that she provides very welcome balm for aching muscles!

It is in the centre of Kut (arguably the prettiest Venetian style village in all of Dalmatia!) just off the square and close to the waterfront, restaurants and all amenities. Tatjana speaks fluent English (she trained in Los Angeles) and German as well as Croatian. See her website for more pictures and you can see some well deserved "excellent" reviews of her guest house on TripAdvisor here.

Eating out on Vis. Being a popular destination for the yachties, restaurants on Vis are well supported from April to October and are of a high standard. They should be as its local produce is renowned on the mainland! Specialities include baby lamb, the freshest organic vegetables you have ever tasted and, of course, fish just landed off the boatLobster from Vis is advertised as a delicacy on the menus of the smartest restaurants in Dubrovnik and elsewhere.
